“Over It” started out as a beat I made with my good buddy Gabe aka ‘Bubbs’. He had come up to visit and make tunes here in Portland, and I always loved this track.
That shuffle feels is just such a cool vibe, especially with the fat bass line. We actually just called the original beat “Cool Accident” because we didn’t intend to give it that shuffle, it was just something that happened when Gabe was chopping up some drum samples.

I knew I wanted to collaborate with Raquel on another track for this album (check out our first collaboration here) so when I was ready to start bringing in singers on some of these tunes, I sent her a few different beats and ‘Cool Accident’ was one of them.
She was immediately into this one and started writing some ideas. We had a session over Zoom a few weeks later and I loved everything she was coming up with.
From there it was honestly pretty seamless. I think we did one or two more sessions just to get the vocals right, but working with her and her partner Sam (Sammy B!) was such a good time.
